just a wee bit of advice please... seem to be able to get
at the 3 nuts on the n/s but the top one on the o/s is a
different problem! is it as i suspect easier to remover the
heat exhanger with the exhaust attached and sort it that way?

I got an old spanner and made it into a bent one by cutting and welding it. You can get ready made bent ones but I only needed the 13mm version so DIYed.

I cut a 13mm ring spanner in half and used the open ended straight of the wheel brace (the one that vw supply with the jack) bloody tricky mind!

I did the spanner trick also,seems to be the way to go :D bit heavy if you take the exhaust off with the heat exchangers......Nick.

I ended up removing the tinware to get access to the rascal took me all day what a job may your god go with you
