5 speed gear box oil
What is the best oil to top up my 5 speed gear box book says ep80 but have things moved on since i got the book.

80 is the right stuff, but make sure it's GL4 and not GL5, as GL5 has more E.P [extreme pressure] additives in it which don't get on with the bronze synchro parts in the T25 box, they're corrosive to bronze over a long period apparently, GL4 is the stuff to use. most car accessory shop d*ckheads will tell you GL5 supercedes GL4, and is fine, they are wrong, and just want to sell you what they have in, rather than what you need!

The GL4/GL5 debate will rage on... if you can find GL4 or GL4+ in a 80, 90 or 75w90 then use that..
but.... I have been running Comma semi synth 75w90 GL5 in my box for the last 7 years... (200k km) only when Aidan takes it apart for a freshen up will we see if any detrimental affects have happened...
