figure of 8 or pole and clamp?

Where you go, where you stay and everything to do with getting there and back.

they both attach to the gutter so it does not make much difference, the awning you get may only fix oneway or the other, i have figure of eights, they can be hard to get on and harder to get off, my brother has the pole with three clamps, much better imo, welcome to the club btw

cheers for that

The awning I want needs to be modified to use the figure of 8 but I wasn't sure the pole and clamp would fit because of the high top

Thanks

We also have a high-top, but we use three sections of figure of eight to attatch our freestanding awning.

Whilst it does stop daylight and draught coming between the van and awning, it is quite time consuming getting the awning on and off the van. I have a feeling that THE pole and clapm fitting would be quicker if you need to get your van on the road and parked up a hurry.

I cut my 8 into shorter sections (about 7" long) and rounded the channels out so the it slides onto the awning cord easily....

This really helps when fitting it to the gutter as you are only dealing with short bits (one at a time and slide it up tight to the next)...

As for removal , well it couldn`t be simpler with the "special 8 removal tool"  A window ice scraper positioned at the point where the 8 meets the gutter and with the awning not pulling against the van ,give it a good whack on the handle and Bob`s ya uncle

Hope to do a couple of pics so this is clearer :D :D

unless you have a westy hightop.the ones i have seen have their gutters full to the top with filler of some sort.so the only option is the pole and clamps...

I have a high top and both the fig of 8 and the pole methods work fine on it.

Aluminium 'J' rail attached to hi-top, plastic figure '8' slides on awning cord and clips onto the 'J' rail.

Try silicone spray on the awning cord it should slip in nicely then  ooooh er missus !

Pole & clamps in DRY weather, fig 8 in wet otherwise the rain runs down inside & drips in your van.
Have you seen him?
