Oil leak on sump gasket

Post by andylekker »

am considering viewing a '86 1600td hardtop campervan with 98000 miles and fairly complete service history. the vendor says the only thing wrong with it is that it has an Oil leak on the sump gasket. ( £3350 )

if he is correct , is this a big job to fix ? any idea how much it would cost ?

and is it indicative of a bigger problem ?

thanks in advance,
andrew

Gasket is cheap, not a hard job to do yourself, gotta get round to doing mine yet :)

Not a big issue in itself, are you sure it`s not a cracked sump though? Can you see where it`s leaking from? Sump plug OK, not stripped and bodged? Is it coming from the rear crank oil seal at g/box end of the motor? Worth a good look.
Keep it real.
