clutch and brake pedal pressure

Post by clartsonly »

hello T25 1986 I recently replaced a portion of the clutch pipe with some pirtek hose, and the clutch works a dream after bleeding it, although if I drive for say 10 minutes without changing gear the the clutch pedal and strangely also the brake pedal seem extremely hard to push down (worryingly tough to push) after the clutch has been depreseed it is back to normal again until after the next long 10 minute clutch free driving.

is this air or something still in the clutch pipe? and maybe doing something in the resoviour thus increasing the pressure for the brakes too?

thanks for any input.

thanks for the reply I hope I haven't disturbed it, are you talking about I replaced a section of rusty clutch pipe with a flexible braided hose, I was wondering whether it still had air in the system which was expanding and increasing the pressure for one push on the clutch.. I am not that worried about the brake problem, it may just be coincidental that I think it is happening to both the clutch is weird though I am getting tired of fixing different parts of it :)

sorry for the long delay in any response I kinda forgot I posted the question :)

the 2 systems are independant of each other, apart from shareing the same fluid resoviour and even then they have seperate feed pipes, the resoviour shouldn't be under any pressure so I can't see that being the problem.

did you remove either of the pedals to get to the clutch cylinder, if so I think its more likely the pedal assembely has not been put back together quite right, or maybe even that the pin the two pedals pivot on is some how a bit bent.

hmmm no... simply got a hack saw and cut 1.5 meters of the steal pipe off and connected the braided hose to one end near the fuel tank and the other end halfway down the underside. then bled the system, although possibly not bled very well, as my 7 year old was doing the pedal pushing whilst I was at the back of the van doing the doing up and undoing of the bleed screw..:)
