advice: van back firing/loss of power on LPG

Post by Pilks »

Any ideas folks, Seem to be getting an intermittent fault when im running the van on gas. It runs fine until it gets warm, then every now and then it will back fire or I suddenly seem to loose power and it kongs out. If I run on petrol it's fine.

Have recently had a new 2ltr Aircooled engine instaled (its;s doen about 3K since)and I made sure they got the gaps correct as specificed by gasure.

Any ideas?

cheers
Dave

Has the gas heat exchanger been damaged?, it sounds to me like its freezing, you need to check that when it cuts out the vaporiser is warm at the gas intake. Has the LPG system ever been serviced, you may need a new filter or in a worst case scenario you may have contamited the vaporiser by not having the filter changed every 12 months, some run for years without some don't, so for mr. S.A. who never touched his and has run for the past 50years with no problem you are on borrowed time. :)
