Anti freeze recommendations please
Hi all,
1.6 n/a D
Well Im driving back from Cornwall to Kent at the end of the week and the water pump has got a nasty clicking noise like the bearing is shot. Im gonna flush the system as there is puddle water kicking about in the coolant.
So how much and what type, brand of anti freeze would people with experience with such things suggest?
I believe the cooling system takes 16 liters in total.
Thanks in advance
Jon

Hi Jon,
I have just bought anti freeze fluid from Just Kampers!
I would think it's ok. It says ideal for watercooled T25.
I need to flush the system as well. I have just bought my van and I'm not sure when it was done last!
Have you done it before? I read about it but never done it myself. Is it difficult?
Cheers,
Mib

Read wiki and read brickwerks tech help , i have just had head rebuild and wouldnt put anything else but G12 from G and S its made for VW audi and skoda its the genuine article and prevents corrosion of head bolts and engine parts . a few extra quid now will save hundreds later

I have a 1.6td and ideally would have used G12.Due to overheating issues&leaks which resulted in the loss of its antifreeze cost wise i went for a cheaper brand.Repairs undertaken resolved the overheating and am using Halfords brand antifreeze spec said replace in two years. Its up to you what make or brand you use ideally G12 but the diesel engine does not need it.
