I have a '87 diesel van that I've fitted a complete new dash pod with rev counter in.
I know that the wiring to the multi connector that plugs into the dash pod is already there for the rev counter and I have found the connection on the alternator that I need to wire to.
What I hope that someone can tell me is the bit in between the dash pod and alternator;
Where will I find the end of the wire from the dash pod to run to the alternator (fusebox area or junction box in the engine bay?) and depending where the wire ends, hows it best to connect it to the alternator?
And what colour wire should I be looking for?
And any other info I need to get this working would be greatly apprieciated.
Cheers,
Neil

Neil,
now I have my rev counter working properly I have found time to check circuits for you. My current flow diagrams suggest the following:
Rev counter is wired to terminal 9 of the 14 way connector on the instrument binnacle. This has a green lead which runs to terminal B19 on the relay board.
On the board there is a red/black link between D26 & D19.
E12 is then wired in green to terminal 5 of a 7way connector in the engine bay junction box (I assume that this is the 7x5" black box, usually over the back left corner as you look in.)
From here it continues (not sure of the colour but presumably green or red/black) to a 2way connector near the alternator. From here it is red/black to the alternator, terminal W.
I would expect that the majority of this will be in every wiring loom, at least as far as the engine bay junction box, but hopefully as far as the next connector.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Great! big thanks for taking the time to check that out for me.
i hope most of the wiring is already there but if not i now know what wires i need where.
i'm going to have a go at that the weekend hopefully but priority is now the leaking master cylinder - so best do that first.
i'll let you know how it goes and again thank you for your advise mate.
