Nope, sounds about right........T25 is bigger than a Bay aswell. Have you had your engine serviced recently, you might get a bit more omph but not much.
I've had a 1.9 WBX that would sit nicley at 60-65, but would slow on hills and my current 1.6TD is the same.

Hi smithybluebus
I have an 81 T25 Danbury conversion with its original 2Ltr CU. It takes the biggest of big hills to slow me down to less than 50mph. Will sit happily at 80mph on the motorway.
WEAZLECHIN has a valid point on the fuel consumption. You do need large wad if you want to drive above 60.
Each to their own I think the Aircooled T25's hold there own.
aircold ???
I don't have any problems getting heat from my engine to the cab.
forgot a bit of tinware / trashed your heat exchangers?

personally i think aircolds are crap(and yes i have owned one) the one i had was real poop. i think its a standard feature to guzzle juice,be slow, and cause hypothermia. never again

there is nowt wrong with an Aircooled motor fella. if you want some more oomph for hills change the stock solex carbs for some 36 or 40mm dellortos and get the thing set up on a rolling road. (get it set on a rolling road anyway as half the time the standard jetting is too lean at the top end anyway)i fitted the carbs to mine now now it flies. with no waterleaking head gaskets to worry about, you couldnt give me a wasserboxer they are an expensive nightmare waiting to occur. my aircooler is toasty warm too!!!!!

Sounds Ok to me, I've got the same motor, I always have to get in the 'slow lane' when travelling through uphill sections of French Autoroutes, but cause havoc with the French truckers who try to frighten me into going faster by getting right up my a**e.

I get about 24 mpg, on an Autoroute.
