clutch hydrolics gone (again) :(

luckily only half a mile from the house yesterday the clutch failed, I have changed the slave cylinder last september but have noticed that clutch fluid appears to be squirting onto the top of the fuel tank. it looks like the pipe should have been in a rubber mounted bush but isn't. it was quite dark last night and the van wasn't jacked up or anything. but can anyone tell me the best way to fix this???

is there a repair kit where I can cut it on a straight bit after the master cylinder and cut it on a straight bit after the fuel tank and then put in some replacement pipe?

I am also concerned by the amount of rust on the top of the fuel tank you know the arm size concave bit?

I will be truly grateful for any helpful ideas concerning fixing the clutch pipe?

I am also wondering whether this is just wear and tear or whether the clutch arm is too stiff to move or something like that.

1986 T25 1900 DF - the clutch pipes is the setup with the bit of plastic going to the slave cylinder, I am not sure whether that makes a difference when it comes to the clutch pipes (brakes pipes I presume)

You can insert a piece of kunifer using compression joints, available from industrial hose outlets ... IIRC it's 8mm OD. It's standard off-the-shelf stuff anyway.

I've ended up making our clutch pipe in 4 parts ... and carry some replacement pipe and several joints (compression that is :roll: ) all the time.

BTW this is a common failing ... as it the festering fuel tank. Enjoy ! :cry:

thanks for the encouragement on the clutch front. I will look and see...

regarding the fuel tank... ? do you reckon I could wire brush it clean and put some form of fibre glass etc or should I just replace it?

You could do a number of things ... the only real solution is to replace the tank ... the cunning design allows cr@p containing roadsalt etc etc to sit on top of the tank et voila :cry: Often (as in our case) the only time you notice this is when you fill her right up ... then it's tears before bedtime and fool's gold all over the place.

I may approach the clutch issue first as long as I can find a supplier of both the compression connectors and piping. I think 5/16 inch is 7.94mm and this is availble in 25 meter rolls when I only really need 2 meters :( and I am not sure about the compression fittings. I have emailed someone on ebay to see if they can help with my requirements.

I had the same thing with the Clutch pipe - it really is best to replace the whole lot, it does take too long.

Can't remember the inside diameter needed - i had to use brake pipe as I had my MOT in about 2 hrs, and it doesn't release the clutch quite fast enough, def needs to be bigger....
