Sliding Door Handle Sheared off.

Post by Doodleboink »

Anywhere I can get just the handle for an '83 sliding door, nearside? Our's has sheared off at the end of the barrel. It was a bit iffy when we bought her but got progressively looser until I thought I'd have a butchers and see what's what yesterday. Does the barrel come out easily enough so I can keep everything on one key?

Are these the same lhd/rhd? Breakers at Vanfest said they were, but I didn't trust them for some reason. I can only see LHD ones on JK. I presume it's the position of the bit that the barrel actuates that's in different positions?

(We couldn't commit to camping as we knew we would be moving house around now. Popped over Saturday afternoon (20 fecking quid!!!?), looked around for the 80/90 campers but could only find the Brickworks. Next time, we're defo there. :D )

Early are different to late and are no longer available so second hand is your only option. (i presume you are talking about the outside handle)

Yeah, we found the map in the booklet just as we were walking out of the showground.

I'm aware early are different to late. I want to know whether lhd/rhd are different. If so, why are lhd ones still available and not rhd? (I presume you're aware JK stock these.)

Also remember that in 1985 the sliding door handle design was changed. Late handles are shorter then earlies by about 1.5 inches

early handle part number 252-843-703

late handle part number 252-843-703A

Do the later handles fit early doors? (Albeit looking a bit funny due to being a bit shorter.)

Hmmm. That could be promising.

I wonder if anything else off a late door had to be used tho.
