eber help please

Post by Rozzo »

thought i'd got a bargain but the eber i've just spent a full day fitting doesn't appear to work?
its a d3l model, and i wonder if anyone can tell me what to test and where please?
if i turn the rheostat switch anti clockwise to the cold position it blows very hard. when i turn it the other way, it blows quite slowly (as i think it should) but then instead of lighting and picking up speed it just blows very slowly and does nowt else?
i've had my hand on the fuel pump and it doesn't appear to do anything?
any hints please as to where to start looking?
oh and it looks as though a previous owner has had the control box apart?
cheers

Julian, if it's a 30amp relay with the red, yellow and white (and another which I can't remember) wires going to it then it's a 'get-round the BT 1 hour timer' relay. Ebers out of BT vans usually (if not always) have a timing device wired in to stop the slovernly gits sleeping cosily all day. This relay does away with that timer.

the fuel pump wires are non polarised, its a electro magnet pulling a diaphram.

Put 12vdc to the fuel pump, and its will click if ok, if you remove said power it clicks again, do it quickly and it pumps......

you need to be really sure you have more than 11.0vdc at the connection nearest the heater when underload, or it will do as you describe, the pump wont even think of pumping iff the voltage is too low.......

posted mobile, blah blah
