my drlas sit well under the lid (by about inch and a half or so) what inlets do you have?
as for the vacc tubes you need to tap a boss into each inlet for the servo to function.
if you are talking about the vacc pipes from the dizzy. discard the retard one and connecet the advance to the lh carb (as you look at the engine)

Got my stuff from vw speedshop. They supplied me with smaller air filters about 1.5" i think. They only just fit though! I had to remove the bar which goes accross the middle of the engine lid as this was catching the linkage bar.
Have you put in the vaccuum take off's in? I also got a anti pulse valve which is recommended if have a stock distributor, you can get this from eurocarb, they also do a tuning manual which i found really helpfull, also got tons of advice from jason k, cheers mate, there sounding good!

if you need any more advice pm me.

cheers

DOH!! forgot about the vaccuum tubes!

the tube on the right(as looking down at it) needs to connect to the carb vaccuum inlet, if you have an anti pulse valve it needs to be part of this with the arrow toward the carb. the other tube just needs blocking off.
