spraying my front grills

Post by billymaya »

my front grills are looking very old and tired and could do with a spruce up, so im thinking about spraying them myself stead of buying new ones, ive done some spraying of plastic parts in the past way back when i had a saxo doing grills and heater units dash bits, anyways to the point with the bits i have doe previously ive finished the job off with a layer of lacure to make protect the paint and give it a nice shine, however would i need to do this on the t25 grill would a shiney one look a bit odd if you see what i mean? if not then how do i protect the paint from peeling?

or Plasticote Satin Black from Wilkinsons discount stores if they have a store near you. :)

I think Homebase also sell Plasticote products. :(

doubt you will find a wilkos that far south, i think they are based in the midlands and north. trago mills is a good bet for price if your close enough.

hi there, you could also use Halfords plastic primer, then top coat in whatever you like. my kids spray their Tamiya radio control cars that way, and they take a fair hammering without chipping. we dry the coats with a hair dryer, that way you can spray all in one evening. Hot paint dries fast.

Hi did mine today....

Image

Sprayed with poundlands' gloss balck - just over 1 tin. Wonder how long it will last - looks pretty damn good now, though!

Yip plastic primer then Satin black, both from Halfords. Did my grilles, spoiler, refurbished the front bumper and did one mirror (which matches the newer mirror very closely). Does look great for not a huge amount of effort.

Last time i was in the BIG halfords in Exeter they had a whole range of the Plasticote spray paints.

They even have L90D in spray tins, ...amazing!
