electrical problems

Post by Orangecat »

hi guys
bought a t25 last year, didnt get a chance to go anywhere, plans were to get it ready for this year.put it through for its mot last november..it failed..needs some minor welding done underneath and a few electrical problems.
i picked up some useful info from you guys on here, and ive been tinkering with the electrics..(id sort one problem only to discover something else wrong!!)..ive done all the usual checks..fuses..earths behind the fusebox..cleaned everything i can!!...but i still cant sort out a few things...all the lights work fine, but the hazzard warning light(green one in dash)only works when ignition is off, doesnt work for indicators at all... also the high beam warning light(yellow in dash)doesnt work.
as i said, ive checked fuses, bulbs, earths..all seem to be ok.
i really need to get someone to look at it for me...anyone know someone in the manchester area who would know wot they are looking for..problem is its not mot'd, so id need to be careful driving somewhere to get it looked at.
once the electrical problems are sorted i can leave it in for the other bits and then mot and then really enjoy my van!!
any advice would be most welcome....thanks.

you need to be cleaning the multiplug at the dash pod, although none of the above will affect the MOT afaik

it is a bad connection you have, its common......

High beam warning is blue isn't it? and the green one should be indicators. Everyone usually mutters about the earth strap at the bottom of the steering column (though I've never even looked at that) and the other one is to pull the big multiplug off the instrument cluster and check and clean the contacts.

What van have you? Diesel or petrol? Whereabouts in Manchester are you? I'm just off the M60 at at the top (Whitefield) if you like and I can try and help.

ive already removed and cleaned that multiplug, however the black caseing is damaged back there,so it could be that causing the problem.

horza.. im not far from you at all...im in harperhey...(the dogs home actually).
ill have another look at that multiplug thingy...see if i can clean it up any more...ill let ya know....thanks again guys.

i doubt it will be the flasher unit, just maybe the switch.....

while you are looking about the fuse box, make sure the earth spider is good, and the connections are sound to earth on it..........

the load reduction shouldnt alter the indecator indecator, are the indecator flashing , just not the dash indecation of them..........

did that make sense?
no.......... haha

But as the man says I can prolly come and ponder too and we can trace wires and voltages and the like and see what we see.

If my Bus Types packing goes dead well I could pop accross on Wednesday or Thursday this week. My mobile number is near the top of the help list in members only, possibly under Euan rather than Horza.
