Who can fix my leaky windscreen?

Post by Dan Wood »

Does anyone know of somewhere near Doncaster that will take a look at my windscreen and fix it for a reasonable price?

I need to fix it before moving to the very wet Isle of Man!

I've got no idea! Judging by the rest of the van, it's probably the metal though.... Can't really tell until the screen is out.

I tried some liquid rubber stuff a year back and it seemed to work.. Mebbe I'll get some more and try it again.

It's not leaking loads, but the cab was very wet after Baxter hosepiped my van. Perhaps he didn't shut the windows first? :)

He'd had it cluttering up his yard for over a week, so you could be right!

Captain Tolley was no good. Creeping Crack indeed...

Went on lovely, applied every 30 mins as per instructions. Then went for fuel and noticed lovely little white puddles of Creeping Crack in the footwells instead of water!

Then last night it rained. I had Captain Tolley's 'milk' to mop out this morning.

Anyway, a closer look suggests it's only the rubber that is shot (for the most part anyway - there might be a bit of a rusty hole just above where the N/S wiper arm is) so I'll try to get hold of some of this rubber solution I used last year. Trouble is, I'd nicked it from my dad's shed and now I've lost it. It was priced in pre-decimal currency, so no idea if they make it anymore!

Failing that, I'm hoping that Gaffer Tape round the window will do! Might not look pretty though...

It is seeping in there, as well as at the bottom corner.

Are you offering to fix it for me? :D

my guess is that its getting behind the rubber at the top and running down to the bottom before dripping out. stop it at the top and i reckon it'll stop.

dan, when i did mine with the creeping crack cure i got puddles of the stuff inside, but repeat treatments every couple of hours in fine weather cured it eventually, if you think its just he seal there is one on ebay cheap at the moment.
