Central locking problem with the tailgate lock.

Post by ChrisW »

Just a quick query.

On my Multivan when I got it, when I locked with the central locking the boot is unlocked and when I unlock it the boot locks.

Got it now so that when its unlocked the boot is unlocked but when the van is locked the boot can still be opened partially, although not fully open.

Tried reading the handboot but cant understand German!

The boot lock works off the key alone, and one key fits all locks.

Any help apprieciated.

Ta, Chris.

Have a look behind the trim.
The locking motor moves a slider that goes between the lock and the tailgate button. Has the wiring been botched? Have the wires been mended where they enter the tailgate?

The button has a key action that,
turned vertical is locked, whatever the CL does.
Turned horizontal is locked or unlocked dependant on CL.
Turned 45 degrees right of vertical opens whatever the CL does.

These motors are 15+ years old. Are they moving the slider properly. Mine were in poor condition. I striped them and replaced the springs.

thanks for the reply.

All the wires are good and latch working correctly.

I'm guessing its something to do with position button after reading your post.

In the horizontal it locks with the central locking but when the button is pressed it seems as though its not latched correctly and opens slightly but not fully??
