oil pump/vacuum pump problem
Hi, need some help please! AAZ conversion, lost the oil pressure because the new 2,000 ml 1.9td oil pump male tang was,nt reaching into the female 1.9 td vacuum pump slot enough ( about 2/3 ml ) and chewed up after about 2,000 miles. So bought a new 1.9td vacuum pump and 1.9 td oil pump, when i did some measurements, the oil pump was still not engaging into the new vacuum pump enough again(2/3ml).So am i using the wrong oil pump? bearing in mind it’s a JX sump, or is there another pump with a slightly longer shaft as an alternative? Any help much appreciated! Cheers Pete

Re: oil pump/vacuum pump problem
I had a look at this because it's an item I check every few years as I've always thought that oil pump drive is a poor bit of engineering.
Mine's an AEF engine, but I'm assuming that all the 1.9diesel engines use the same oil pump and vacuum pump, and the Brickwerks website seems to confirm this . The depth of engagement for the vacuum pump to oil pump dog on both the van engine and the spare is 6mm give or take, and both show a bit of wear, but with plenty of meat left for many more miles.
The 1.9 engine has done 55K miles since I installed it, (150K ish total) so just out of interest when I saw your post, I removed the vacuum pump to take a look. It shows more wear than when I installed it, but I was happy to put it back in and use it some more.
Is there any way that your vacuum pump could be installed not fully seated (ie with an o ring or gasket between the flange and the engine block)?

1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Re: oil pump/vacuum pump problem
Looking at Brickwerks it seems to say use the JX pump, 068 115 105 BP, in your canted over at silly o'clock 1.9 engine conversion but notes bolt lengths may be different - JX uses 75mm bolts, an AAZ oil pump in a golf uses 90mm, which all makes sense - so maybe you need to use the T3 oil pump rather than use the AAZ one and change the pickup tube etc.. to suit the T3 sump
