starter motor refusing to pull off....

Post by Seana »

T25 1986 2.1 petrol.

Undone the bolts... eventually...
Disconnected all the wires....

The starter motor moves freely but I cannot pull it out of the engine.. it feels like something is stuck.

Any ideas?
I'm under the van right now so any help greatfully received.

Thanks all.

Still waiting under van for reply... :)

Manual or auto?
If manual, the bendix or pinion (the bit that engages with flywheel) may well have jammed open and stuck against flywheel.
Put a 30mm spanner on crank pulley and rock engine back and forth a little.
Or grab a large hammer and place a piece of wood against starter body and give it a bash.
