mainbeam warning light-mot test

hi all
can anyone tell me wether the mainbeam warning is compulsory for mot purposes please as mine doesn't work?
mot not til august but i'd sooner know now and get it sorted if required?

in a word yes (i think) i inspect army vehicles and i fail them if it dont work!

sounds like a plan dan cos i have a drill to mek a hole in the dash,,, and a label making machine at work lol
