Anyone know if you can still get hold of the Stepper Motors for a T3 Tachometer? Or a more modern one that functions the same way?
I've seen loads on ebay for T4's and Mk3 Golfs, but they look very different and I imagine they work in a different way.

it not likley to be a stepper motor on the T4 t will be a standard moving coil meter.

I've a complete polo/derby tacho here 7k max rpm VDO same era almost the same as a T3 one - petrol obviously

There has been no compatible replacement available for about 15 years (unless something has changed quite recently).
I repair instrumentation for heavy equipment, there's a particular unit that fits a crane worth hundreds of thousands of pounds that uses the same motor. If we ever need one, we buy a 1980s VW cluster and harvest the part...
