Hi ,
Im having a problem with the battery light which is constantly on .
The battery is not charging .
When I dis connect the blue wire the light goes out .
I have cleaned all the earth points and changed a couple of earth cables.
The alternator was recently reconditioned so should be good.
Is there a way of bypassing the blue wire or having a makeshift one in the engine bay .
Should have said it’s a 1984 diesel , thanks .

Re: Battery light
Temporarily connect the warning light terminal of the alternator directly to the battery, ideally through a fuse (1A-5A). This should make the battery charge, and the warning light go out.
If so, it's likely your instrument cluster is faulty.
If it still doesn't charge, your alternator is still faulty.

Re: Battery light
It looks like the alternator may be faulty .
I tried connecting the blue wire directly to the battery ,
the light went out but still not charging .
Think I might leave it for the new year .
thanks again
