Between front seats centre console

I've been thinking at some point to make some sort of storage console for the space between the front seats. Then I've seen Slaughter House Customs do what looks similar to my imaginings so that might be the easiest. Does anyone have any experience of it? Looking at the pics I do wonder if it's a bit too wide and might make operating the handbrake awkward?
