sorry.. more 1y. exhaust leak

Post by wookey »

Hello again.. so soon i know :(

Engine is running good now. But... I have a blow from the exhaust on cyl 4

Looking ate it the leak is between the exhaust manifold and the gasket. There seems to be a slight dip in the manifold so the gasket isnt sealing correctly.

When I put the engine i I switched over both the inlet and Exhaust manifolds from my KY engine.. Reading round people have done this with no reported ills while some have swithced over just the inlet manifold leaving the 1y exhaust manifold blocking the EGR valve hole up..

I cant remember now if I put a 1y or a KY gasket on.. Could this be the problem, the wrong gasket..

If so What is the correct combination.. ?

  • 1y engine, 1y gasket,1y exhaust manifold (Does the exhaust pipe fit to the manifold ok?)
1y Engine, KY Gasket , KY manifold
    Other

Hope fully this is an easy one. and its not my manifold thats warped.. Its so so s o close now :)

Thanks
wookey

You've either left an old gasket on there or the gasket that is in there is on back to front/upside down.

when i did mine there were loads of little gaskets(if i remember right)and i used 1.9 iy gaskets on mine, simon is probably right as theres probably a gasket on backwards/or still there or possibly a manifold nut not tighened down correctly, cant be much duck, and dont see the manifolds warping too often......hope you get it sorted though..................
