Fitting a Single Mass Flywheel

Post by Al Housman »

I am in the process of offering up a SMF clutch to my diesel bell housing.

The link on Brickwerks is really useful in identifying which parts of the bell housing to grind back in order for the SMF (or DMF for that matter) to clear the casing.

Does anyone who's done this already have any tips about how much to grind off?

I've taken it back by a few mm ( I'm guessing) so that the surface is as smooth as the surround part of the case. It's tricky to get close up photos of this and I obviously don't want to take off more than necessary.

The bit on the left (as you're looking into the bell housing) is less obvious than the other. Does it need grinding back on the inside edge or rather the one facing outwards towards you-if that makes sense?

Thanks
