Quick seat question.

Post by Hinesy »

Does any one know if there's an issue with fitting a passenger side seat to the drivers side (rhd van) aside from the adjusters been on the other side?

I don't have my van here at the moment to check.

Reason I'm asking is I've seen a single passenger side captains seat for sale which I was hoping I could fit to the drivers side and keep my double front seat as it is.

They hardly ever come up as single seats and it's in the right colour too.

I always thought the outer 'bolster ' of the seat base was slightly higher, reason being I once put my seats in the opposite side and immediately felt like something was wrong?

I have the armrest type so maybe it's only those?

Never thought of that? l change armrest type captain seats regularly to prevent excessive wear and dirt to just one (a daily driver) seat and never noticed any difference, apart from adjusting levers.

I swapped mine around as i found that the one that was on the drivers side had one seat adjuster on the left hand side (and one on right) and it would get in the way when using the handbrake.
The other had 2 adjusters on the right hand side, so meant the handbrake was free if swapped over.

Not sure if they had been swapped in a previous life, seems odd. They are factory captains chair.

Foams are the same on either side, but the caravelle type seats have deeper foam than the peasant seats.
