Has anyone done it? Whats the reason its not so popular?
I have a 220BHP one here, as I'm breaking my 20vT Scirocco.

and clearence for the turbo.. but there are a range of turbo manifolds that could be fitted to uvercome this..
if you have a stand alone control setup then wiring wont be too much problem..
intercooling can be a pain due to space, and this is most important on the 20v turbo..
it will mount to a diesel gearbox
and if was fitted to a rocco then should be compatable with the van diesel mountings..

Depends how you drive my td has a huge amount of torque and thats not killed a syncro (week) gearbox yet.

wasnt a torque thing i was on about realy..
torbo diesle engine's have as with any turbo engine a point where the turbo comes in, the 20vt though depending on what combination of turbo and control systems can realy kick in hard.. to the point were i have heard of them breaking cv joints/drive shafts.. and thats on boxes more robust than that used on a t3..
as has been said depends on the state of your gearbox, but in general t3 boxes wont last long with engines much over 150 bhp.
it can "generaly" be said that someone wanting big power engines will drive harder than someone thats happy with what ever engine comes fitted.. the boxes fitted to Aircooled t3's are better at taking bigger power but sadly dont have as good gear ratios.
