42mm larger Radiator

Post by Urge38 »

Hi people,

I am looking into getting a larger rad for my 1.9 petrol waterboxer, I have not checked as yet, but my guess is I have the finer rad.

here is the thing, sellers like to quote depth, ie 42mm etc

but that matters not so much as the radiator's capacity, you can have a 42mm deep rad with less lows of core and it will hold less water than the standard thinner rad

does anyone know the slandered capacity in litres for the radiator only on the 1.9 (smaller rad) and the 2.1 (larger rad)

unfortunately, it does not specify the rad capacity,

Brickrats looks to be the same quality as campervan culture (and others) but bit more expensive

From the blurry pics of car part webshops it seems like NRF and Nissens branded 068121253E partnr are the ones that are like the original BEHR which is NLA.
Cheaper Thermotec brand might be OK, but I am not sure.

FWIW why does the OP's DG need a higher capacity rad? The only DG that came with the thicker rad (and bigger fan motor) was the syncro, this was carried though for the JX and all 2.1 afaik, maybe hot climate markets also got the thicker rad too?
If your DG is getting too hot you need to ask why and are the instruments telling the truth?
