No Main Beam - no Blue LED

Post by trentjim »

noticed last night that i had a problem with the lights...
ive not really investigated yet but first impression is that dip is working but main beam isnt (just the dim parking lights are showing if i try and click to dazzle mode) - no blue LED showing either.

guess this is power supply issue? - start with the main light switch or the dash stalk? - anyone care to point me in the direction of the expected terminals/voltages?

many thanks,
James

The usual reason for that kind of issue is dirty/oxidised connections. The first thing I'd try would be to clean the earth crowns which are located below the dash on the left a-pillar behind the fuse panel. You can unscrew the fuse panel from the body and push it to one side without disconnecting anything, then just unplug everything from the earth crowns, clean up all the connectors with a bit of fine sandpaper or similar and then put everything back again. Just keep count of how many you earths you disconnect so you don't miss anything in putting things back. Hopefully that should resolve it without needing to go digging anywhere else.

I had a very similar problem last week and was down to a bad earth behind the fuse panel.
