Replacing Coolant Pipe 251121104

Post by maxstu »

Struggling to remove this from the coolant distribution tower besides starter motor.

Any tips how to replace this coolant pipe found on the automatic versions only. It runs from coolant distribution tower to transmission cooler and solid coolant running to radiator.

I can't see how it's is possible as there is no give between tower and plastic coolant pipe. As it is damaged I can cut up old one. l have a new replacement waiting to refit.

Hi David,

Sorry, do you mean unbolt the coolant tower from it mounts? I guess it may produce some wiggle room.

More pipework to remove then :?

Never easy is it

I can't pull the hose off the tranny oil cooler without removing the unit itself. So to do that l will replace the o'ring seals while l'm at it.

What a palaver! :run

After a bit of a hissy fit about this new-ish camper draining my pocket l got to work removing this pipe.
I did help unbolting the tower from frame, and with a bit of twisting the pipe came out......with a load of debris. Some gravel too? I have cut away the bit that connects to the auto tranny cooler.

So the plastic coolant pipe has lost it's reinforcement metal collar now! Time to flash the credit card and replace the lot, l think. New stainless steel pipes to consider.

At the other end l removed the transmission nose bush and bracket. This gives me access to the other end of the coolant pipe. But it is still very tight. I have new cooler seals on order from Brickwerks. Now is the time to drop the cooler and replace them. That way it will be easier to fit the new coolant pipe.

Offending pipe removed. Alot of carp come out too.

The plastic pipe collar stuck inside removed hose.

Cradle for supporting transmission.
