How to replace coolant hose (1989 2.1 DJ)

Post by bessiebelle »

Hello I've recently replaced most of my coolant hoses.

This one is defeating me because it's quite inaccessible.

It's the one that goes from the end of the bleed rail to...somewhere under the alternator. I'm not actually sure what it's plugging into as I can't see!

Any tips for how I can replace it? I'm guessing I might need to remove something from the engine bay to get to it, but what's my easiest route in?

Thanks

Remove the alternator and you will see it goes on a spigot attached to the cylinder head.
If careful you will only lose a bit of coolant. So prepare and have everything ready and to hand.

If you still have the old plastic spigot it might be brittle, be careful it doesn't break. It may be best to replace it with the stainless steel upgrade.
