So 2 days ago I replaced the engine air filter, gave the carb a blast with degreaser, carb cleanrer and light releasing oil to try and free up the sticcky choke as I suspected it was the cause of some stallign issues. I also cut down an old and worn vac line that fell of the air blen capsule on the intake.
No real expectations.
Last night ( On LPG ) through town to BandQ the engine was racing in neutral and trying to pull with no throttle. After making it to BandQ She seemed ok, so I went on my way to drop off wood at my unit. and she seemd ok. Then after leaving the unit for Asda she was racing again, and then she started to die i switched to Petrol and shje picked up ok. We made it home ok.
This morning I replaced all the vac hoses and the servo hose. cheked all the butterflies were closing as expected and made sure everything was free moving.. Last night playing with a spare 2e3 I found the 2nd stage puldown colud jam so though I may find that but no... Thinking I may have run out of gas I set of for the LPG statio, only to make it about 400 yards before the engine was stuck raing again.
I made it back yo the house and at first could not find a stuck open butterfly, I tightend down the carb but it was prety tight. after about 3 mins I noticed that if I nudged the Choke Cam it would flip home and normal serive would be resumed, i did this a few times to confirm the theory...
Now. a few days ago I had posted about replacement springs as mine semed a little light on tension. Got no response but probably as they are unobtaibale. Lookign at the spare carn and the one on maise I found that both ends were detahed from their respective location positions.. There then ensued about an hour of trying to hook one end in and then the other , it was not goign smoothly and I had every tiny prodding device arround. I had started with the fixed end attached and trying to get the cam end in but this was proving difficult as the spring was under tension and in an awkward place but I eventulay made it ( I had improvised a tool out of a WD40 straw to help grip and wist the spring. I then simply pulled the cable tie, reahed for the prodding tool that was not where i expected and then the spring popped itself of the cable tie. Suitably trained now I managed to unhook am end, loacte other end on cable tie, re-hook cam end and finaly get the fixed end in place....
And the result, she seems to be runnign better than ever on Petrol, which I would expect now the choke is both free moving and sprung.
Driove out to the LPG station, tried gas a couple of times on route and she was having none of it even with 2 out of 5 bars showing. Put 15L in and she was happy again..
So a bit of an eventful time....

Just worth mentioning that the second stage has a plastic cam that operates off the main stage, second stage will only open when you are close to full throttle. If the plastic cam on the second stage is broken the vaccum from the engine running will keep the second stage open making the revs high.
