I have an electrical problem where there is no power to the instrument cluster on my 1.9 dg t25.
There is no power coming in on pin 8 of the 14 pin connector to the cluster which is a black wire marked ignition on my cluster master replacement for the ribbon cable. It was all working fine.
All fuses are ok.
On the Haynes manual I can see pin 8 going to track 11 but I can’t trace it further.
I can see the black wire heading in to a loom off towards the direction of the fuses/relays but I am not sure where to go next. Any thoughts?
Mike

You dont say what age the van is , the wiring is different late and early to the dash cluster, however You should check the ignition switch is outputting power on pin 15 which is where you get the input for the dash cluster

Re: T25 1.9 dg no dash power
It is a 1987 t25 with the 1.9 dg petrol engine.
I have dash lighting but no power on pin 8 of the 14 pin connector. I also don’t know if anything is powered off pin 1 which is marked instr on the clustermaster device. It also has no power.
There is ignition power.
Pin 1 of the 14 pin connector does not seem to feature at all in the Haynes wiring diagrams.

Re: T25 1.9 dg no dash power
According to my 1987 DG wiring diagram -
There is no fuse between the instrument cluster and the ignition switch.
Just a black wire direct to pin 8 of the cluster connector.
Is anything else affected?
Ignition live to coil etc?
If it is dead too, then consider a duff ignition switch.
-------------------------------
Pin 1 is the grey / blue illumination wire which is fed from a single fuse holder on top of the main fusebox.
The voltage here is controlled via the light switch dimmer wheel thingy.
If you have a low voltage here, then turn the dimmer towards the right (turn it up).

1987 Electrics and a DJ engine.
Maybe one day I might get it finished

Re: T25 1.9 dg no dash power
I have now found the issue after tracing the wire into a loom which doubled back and joined into wires from the ignition switch. The wire had overheated and was badly frayed. I’m not sure why this would happen as the electrics are basically standard here apart from an immobiliser but maybe it had frayed and earthed.
Anyway it all works now after replacement.
