Hi to all who read on,
Replaced every part of gear linkage from front to back but I just can't get a smooth gear selection. By juggling the front top plate I can get all gears with difficulty and definitely not as easily as my other vans have been but even when they do go into gear there is an awful groaning noise.
What have I done wrong?

Re: Noisy gear selection
A silly question, but is it definitely gear related?
Assuming all the linkages have been set-up and adjusted correctly.
On all other vehicles that I have had, it has been a mal-adjusted or worn clutch. (If cable operated).
Or if hydraulic clutch, does it need bleeding.?

Maybe one day I might get it finished

Re: Noisy gear selection
Found the problem yesterday!
Centre bush where it goes through the crossmember has broken up
Unbelievable I only replaced it 3 years ago
Oh well here we go again

It must of been one of the batch of poor quality aftermarket bush that came out several years ago, Brickwerks now sell the JP group made part.

Re: Noisy gear selection
Yes I've just ordered one on Brickwerks. Unfortunately the genuine VW one is out of stock along with the rear bellows that I also need to replace!
The last time I go anywhere else for such parts.
