Early Vs Late suspension

Post by sam16v »

So my van is a 1983 with the earlier suspension brakes etc etc. My question is how much of an upgrade is the later setup? I have a donor van which is a 1989 with power steering. Both setups will need new bushes etc, just wondering if it's worth the bit if extra work to change? Thanks

Power steering would be a definite advantage and probably the brakes but how much if any better the later drop links and arms would be I don't know.

The steering rack will need swapping as well along with the crank pulley.

I've fitted EPAS to an early van and it's a lot nicer to drive so I would imagine factory power steering is lovely.

Go for it, swap everything, if it was in was in good condition you could remove the bolts onto the chassis and each axle with brake discs attached as units. Factory power steering is top notch. Brickwerks do the hydraulic pipes in rubber instead of using the old metal pipes.
