Shrek ears

Post by leeips »

Hi. Been looking at the shrek ears on the underside of my t25. I am half way through replacing fuel pipes, perished breathers, tank etc...the shrek ears or end pieces are perished. Infact i can only find one.. my question is, whatbthe hell is there purpose? Are thedly a pressure release? Do the sit against the tank? Why the shape? Basically are they needed or are they an over engineered bit of rubber?
Ifvthey are not there wjat happens?
Lee.

They are over-engineered rubber. It is fine not having them.
AFAIK they were not used on later vans, the polyamide tubes were just hanging with a bare end.

They call them gravity valve, but the real roll-over valves are the white plastic thingies in the plastic tanks
