Could someone kindly advise what this split wire is stopping working and the consequence?

Isn't that your reverse light wiring connector?

Just forward of the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder mounting bracket.

So I presume you have no reverse lights.

Should be two wires -
Black / blue out to both reverse lights.

Black / grey from the main front-to-back loom - goes to the main fuse box.
