1.6d diesel filter won't bleed

Post by Mrbus »

Hi peeps
Juicey noobie here. Picked up a rough runner yesterday. I'm pretty sure it's due to air in the diesel system. Lots of bubbles in the in line fuel filter. I'm undoing the Bleed bolt on top of the diesel filter & absolutely zilcho is coming out whilst engine is running. I'm pretty sure that's not right lol
Please tell me otherwise
Thankyou

Correct.

You will need to check all the pipes and connections between the tank and injection pump for leaks. That's easier said than done because above the fuel level in the tank air will get sucked in with the engine running but no diesel will leak out. While you're doing that check the leak off pipes (the braided pipes which go between the injectors) for leaks with the engine running. They are prone to leakage and can let air in when not running causing poor starting.

1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.
