fuel line to pump a loose fit

Post by Mona »

Hi All,

My (new) fuel line is quite a loose fit into my (new) fuel pump - it slides on easily without any force, but doesn't leak when tightened. Someone remarked they usually needed a bit more effort to put on. Does this sound like a problem?

Thanks

Does it say what size pipe the new fuel line is on the side? I think the Aircooled pumps are 6mm in and out. Do not use jubilee clips to tighten hoses as they don’t close the pipe in a circular manner.

The hose should be a stretch fit. 5.5mm or 5.7mm i.d is a good fit. 6mm or 1/4" hose is too loose. Never rely on a clip to seal the hose it should always be a tight fit.

Thanks both, I'll have a closer look and replace the pipe.
