240 EHU

Post by triggermala »

Hi my 240v hook up socket is a flush fitting type with flip down front cover, its mounted on the side of the van but would like to move it as it protrudes into the van and I would have to cut a large hole into my new doorcards to be able to fit them tidy. Is there any shallower depth sockets and where else are people fitting them.

I did away with it coming out of the rear offside panel. The panel was replaced three years ago because of rust forming around the cut out. Not too bad from outside. But inside the panel was very rotten from water ingress between box and panel.
EHU now pulls out of rear inspection flap. Clean and dry and sits nicely behand PAS bracket.

I've seen something similar to this idea , where does the cable run to if it goes through the bulkhead do you have to drill a hole for this or is there somewhere I could use. Is there a risk of the cable catching somewhere in the engine bay and what about any heat in there. My van is an air by the way.

Im not familiar with an Aircooled engine bay.
As the cable sat inside the rear cabinet under the carpet, l simply made a domestic rose connection with an addition two metres of camping cable and fed it through to the enginebay. I dont recall drilling. Will take a look in the engine bay tomorrow. I cable tied it under rear of engine compartment along with other wiring for fridge and propex, leaving about 30cm free to pull out of rear flap. Not affected by heat as it is correct 16amp external camping cable.
Will photo tomorrow

The rear cabinet was removed at the time.
I drilled a small hole through the inner skin. Theres at least and inch gap before touching outer panel.

QUOTE,

“ I drilled a small hole through the inner skin.”

I trust , not so small that allowance was not made to fit grommet or bushing .
