Fuel pump
If the non electric fuel pump works by an actuator on a cam shaft or shaft within the engine, does the actuator or what it runs on wear down over time, I would imagine that the actuator on the pump (if that's the correct term) is of a softer material and that wears first. Reason for posting is, does this create swarf within the engine and circulate around the oil system. And does it collect in the sump therefore one of the reasons for regular oil changes.

Re: Fuel pump
Yes, it does wear down, but doesn't produces any swarf. Being a soft material it tends to get flattened. It length is critical to maintain fuel pressure.
In my first camper l never changed it in 10 years. In fact l didnt even know the pump worked in such a manner until reading about on here.

Re: Fuel pump
Thanks, mine is working fine, but I did notice the previous owner left a spare one in a box, but unsure if this was a defective one or a good spare.

Re: Fuel pump
Thanks, how/from which point is the measurement taken, is there anyway of checking operation without placing it in situ.

Re: Fuel pump
End to end, with a micrometer preferably for accuracy. Check the spare you have first. Might be an unused spare.
Current one must be taken out to measure.
Do you have issues with fuel delivery?

Re: Fuel pump
No problems, fuel delivery appears fine, just wondering if worth keeping this other one, it does look used, don't intend to test it by swopping with existing one.
