So is this a leftover from air cooled configuration?
Does it give any purpose to a DG? I guess it takes warm air from the engine compartment before air from outside?

Air ducts to & from the warm air unit behind the o/s/r light cluster to exhaust. Not usually required in our climate and usually removed.

I raised the same item last year as I was wandering if my fitment was restricting air flow.

My early '84 has the corrugated pipes fitted #13, so it takes fresh air from outside the engine bay rather than the warm air within, I think that was the idea behind it, from a factory perspective.

It stops the carb from icing up in sub-zero conditions, but does require than the thermostatic element in the diverter actually works, which it won't after 35+ years...

I did have mine all connected up to the original exhaust but it’s now redundant with the Speedshop one fitted.
Been no issues but as said above probably does nothing in any case.
