Flooring - suggestions please?
Hello all,
still working on sorting the vandalism/break in damage...need some advice on potential flooring options as the carpet is knackered in the back.
Want to go for something "easy clean" as we have two kids under 5 and also want to go for fairly cheap and easy to install if possible...
Any thoughts please?
Cheers!

A sheet of 8mm or 18mm MFC in the fake wood effect of your choice. Available from kitchen companys, of the likes of B&Q. Cheap, fairly hard wearing and if it's cold on your feet, put a rug on it. Mine at the moment has a sheet of what looks like 18mm chipboard with carpet on top, but when that dies it'll be 18mm MFC for me. I mentioned the 8mm board just in case it has to go under the edges of units etc.

no, you can buy by the metre. the roll was 2m wide, and i got i tihnk 3 m length, so 6sq m.jagsman wrote:Looks nice plurker, pricey? Is there a different roll size, surely you didn't buy 20 odd metres of it?
i paid iirc £20 for enough to do the whole floor and some bits up the sides of seats etc. The cost was the delivery - think that was about £30, more than the stuff anyway! if you could pick it up that's be good. It's just much harder wearing than lino, and imho it looks nicer than laminate floor.

I've got a speckled look vinyl over 8mm plywood base. Very solid and hard wearing. Carried a wood burning stove from S of F and it didn't even leave a dent in the floor....mind you, we had to use the stove top as our table for 3 weeks...can't resist a bargain
