Do a multi meter test according to Haynes manual and match results against listing for green or gray coil

either grey or green will do, only difference is extended maintenance schedule for neglected commercial vehicles which is a nonsense in our world of campers.

I think it was just a case of Bosch didn't want to supply anything but the golf version at the time, and VW didn't want to change supplier, probably because Bosch gave them such a good deal on them, it works so why not, as said no other components change so it makes no sense to change the coil other than production reasons
