? ? Which rotor arm for 2.1 DJ engine ? ?

Post by wasserleaker »

Hi all,
Wondered if anyone knows if a 2.1 DJ engine [digijet injection] should have a rotor arm with the over-rev cut out in it, or the more usual solid type if that makes sense, it had a rev limit one in, but someone said it should be the other type. any advice?
thanks, Wasserleaker

I think you will find the rev limiter is controlled by the ECU...

some rotor arms have a centrifugal weight and spring in them, Fritz, which stops the engine revving beyond the point when the spring gives up and stops letting the volts get to ya plugs from what i understand, my old mk 1 golf gti had one in,they just start missing and popping when they get to the preset rpm's. just wondered which type my engine should have in. you may well be right and the ECU stops over revving as well.

I can only say that the rotor in the 2.1 I had recently looked just like a common or garden std rotor arm you would find in a 1.1 golf,,,,,,,,
Unlike the rotor arm in the Aircooled van we had a few years ago was fitted with the spring loaded jobbie to prevent overreving....
