In order to stop the door sliding open on a hill, this latch holds the door. But my latching technique has been a rather manual affair until now. I have the spring now but I’ve no idea how it goes together because it’s never had one fitted in my ownership. Does anyone have a photo or wouldn’t mind posting one up to see how this spring fits? Thank You.

There are two types of springs for the early latch, 211 843 381A for the early latch with two levers the same as bay window vans then 251 843 381 left or 251 843 382 right, (they are handed) for the single lever latch. You have bought the early bay window type spring. Heritage has the left sliding door spring 251 843 381 for £3.50

I think spending 3 years to find an early latch spring and fit it, is quite reasonable.
Early latch 251843740
Late latch 251843740 A
