I have two mates who have Caravanstors fixed to there pop tops. One a bay the other a T3 Holdsworth.
If I remember rightly they have both pop riveted the u channel to the fibre glass frame of the top. ln both cases they have to remove the awning and carry it on board when travelling.
I fitted a Fiamma F45 awning to my Hightop using the prescribed Fiamma bracket and it works pretty well..
If I could have got another inch or two (he he) it would have been great but reckon it works well.
Cheers
thanks but I have the F45 and the brackets and it does not fit the holdsworth without butchering the fibreglass.
There is also then no access to the roof clips with out further mods.

My F45 won't fit on the gutters of my Holdsworth.

Thanks.
I don't want to drill the fibreglass so I'm planning to attach a aluminium square tube with brackets to the gas strut fixings on the top and attach the mounting strip to that. This way if I don't like it I can remove it.
I don't understand why your mates have to remove it when travelling?
Fiamma says it can stay and I see no reason why it would do any harm.
The big problem I see it getting to it with the roor up, need a stool and I suspect it's a 2 person job so 2 stools
Hi,
I should have been clearer.
Their channel, to slide the bag in and out, is fixed just above the gutter, not to the top raising piece of the top.
This lower frame is covered by the top when lowered so hence the need to remove.
They are quite happy with the headroom ie just above gutter level.
I can manage my awning on my own, which is fixed just below the high top window, but must admit it is easier, with advancing years, to have the assistance of the chief fairy.
ok thanks
this pic from MGP sounds same but he can close over the awning.
I want the extra shade on the pop top and the extra pitch for rain to run off and not pool so I want to.attach to the top.

Yep that looks the same mounting system.
I was going to mount mine higher because of the rain pooling but then I could not reach it, short leg syndrome, without a stool. During rainy periods I lower one corner of the awning and this solves the prob.

No not if you want it horizontal but I don't, I want the extra pitch to allow water to drain off, so it won't extend out so far as if it were horizontal.
If you look at caravans and coach built motorhomes the awning is always much higher and with more of a pitch.
I see pitched awnings left up all the time in France where we often had to take our horizontal F45 awning down when it was windy, for some reason the wind seems to flap horizontal awnings more than pitched ones, another reason.
Just shorten the legs when its windy or it rains! That will give you the pitch, it’s what we do, seems to solve the problem that way you can have the bag attached as pictured above and hide it when the pop top is down?

Then you can't stand under it, if it rains for a day you have no space outside to stand up in.
Also I can't hide mine under the poptop as it's a Holdsworth with solid sides and no space.
We use it mainly In France it's usually for sun shade and shade on the poptop will help.
Anyway I'm going to try it bolt on no drilling so I can change it if it does not work.

You don’t need to shorten it much, but i can see where you’re coming from, good luck
