Dog restraint.

How do folks restrain their van hounds?
Our Lucy lies on the back seat but likes to stand up/wander around.
We have a car harness that loops round the back seatbelt in the pickup or wifes car but the rear seatbelts in the bus are lap belts which wouldn't let her move around and she'd get tangled in a long lead.
I'm thinking maybe a retractable seatbelt attached to the "C" pillar, that would allow her to wander but would lock in the event of sudden braking/impact.
Can anyone tell me if there's a seatbelt mounting point on the C pillar of a panel van? obviously this would be unused on a panel van but is it there for Caravelles etc?
Suggestions welcome.

We use two like these attached to the lapbelts and harnesses.Granted they do restrict their movement somewhat.But dont you think if your dog could move around and you had to brake suddenly, you could well end up with a hurt dog.

Some sort of elasticated version would be good if I can find one.
Yes, I fully agree about risk of injury, hence my thoughts on a retractable inertia belt that will lock when nessesary.

For Dubdog I used a dog guard, restricting him to behind the R&R bench seat. Mine was home made utilising the holes for the head rests for the four uprights. Although not big enough for your giant woofer it also had an opening gate.

Aye, she's a big woofer right enough and that's part of the problem.
She'd have to be tightly retsrained to keep her on the seat, or to keep her on her bed on the floor and stop her getting on the seat where she can fall off.
She did used to jump over behind the seat which was good as she was protected from going flying there but that area is now full of bedding and luggage when we're travelling.
If she was smaller she could lie on the bedding behind a dog guard but she bangs her head on the roof if she tries that now. daft mutt.

Well I finally got round to fitting my retracting dog belt. The reel is mounted to the side of the bed support and the top loop is screwed into an m12 rivnut on the c pillar. I cut the end off the belt and fitted a D ring for the harness to loop through. Works well.
