Engine needs Engineer (Airbox)

Post by paulhames »

Hello everyone,

My Van a DG 1.9 petrol needs some engineering to the airbox which attaches to the carb.

Because I didn't start him for ages I had to take the 3 screws off to put a bit of petrol in the carb to start.

When I tried to take the screws off two threaded and I ended up forcing the airbox off. It still opperates as it should but when I sell the van I want it to be right so my question is - I need someone an Engineer or helicoil man in a van to help and I cant find one..!

Have taken it to two garages but as it's drilling out steel screws from an alloy carb, they send me on. Has been suggested to get a top of carb or live with it, I want this to be right and tight..!

I live in Poole, Dorset, (which is full of Engineer's consequently) can drive to somebody too.

Many thanks,
Paul

Hello I may be wrong but I'm sure the only way you will get those out will be to drill them unfortunately which may cause further damage. Did you manage to find anybody to help sorry we're based in the midlands

No need to drill - sounds like a candidate for Alum and dissolving the remnants https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=161022 - provided all other steel components are removed ( if any)
