VDO pressure gauge woes

Post by Blakefruid »

Evening All,
I've just fitted VDO temperature and pressure gauges, and when I turn on the ignition (not start the bus) the needle on the pressure gauge flips all the way round???? Any ideas please.

G on sender to gauge, WK to idiot light. I took the power feed from G2 (there was something already there but also a tail with a yellow socket) and lights from G8 on the fuse board, the earth was from a new earth crown I just fitted. both the power and earth are daisy chained- pressure first then onto temperature.
Thanks very much,
Ian

Check the three connections at the gauge. I can't remember what mistake I made (signal and live swapped I think, or maybe signal and earth), but whatever it was the result was what you've described - one of the gauges swung right over and the other one didn't move.

Morning,
Thanks for the reply- yeap I just found this: http://gilmore-global.com/howto_guides/ ... gGuide.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So it sounds like Pressure needle all the way right and Temp all the way left means no signal from the sensors.
cheers,
Ian

All sorted! The gauge and power cables were the wrong way round. I used the connectors from Brickwerks (nice and tidy) and obviously made the schoolboy error of following the + & G on the connectors and not gauges- idiot!!!
Thanks for your help.

Now to try and get the blinking light and buzzer to work with the gauge.

Must be the same thing I did then, since I used the same plugs.
